Thank You South Jersey Vagabonds for your contribution to DIVERSITY
Saturday, May 9 2022, was sad day for alumni corps in the Philadelphia area. The SJ Vagabonds had decided to fold their organization. They provided some great performances throughout the last 10 years and they will be missed.
They decided to donate all their equipment to our new youth organization for those with different needs “Diversity”.
We thank you for your generosity. It is deeply appreciated.
Alumni Breakfast-Philadelphia Region
Did you march in a drum corps from the Philadelphia Area? Not just Bracken but ANY Drum Corps?
The Bracken Cavaliers Alumni Drum Corps thought it would be a great idea to start a Breakfast Club for the Philadelphia area corps.
We invite all those who marched in any drum corps, indoor drumline or color guard from any time period, Pre DCI, DCI, Pre DCA, DCA or Alumni Corps. Doesn't matter where or when you marched, all are welcome. We share corps history, war stories and the fun times we had. We will honor a different corps each month, talk about their history, see photos from the days of yore, play some drum corps trivia and possibly have a guest speaker come every once in a while.
The August Breakfast Club will be held on Friday August 26. I will be on tour with the Raiders DCI Open Class Corps until August 12.
We meet at the Golden Eagle Diner on the corner of Rt 13 and Bath Street (300 Bristol Pike Bristol PA) on the first Friday of every month.
So, lets have some fun together, invite a friend. It will be a great way to see and catchup with old friends, make some new ones, finally meet a friend from Facebook or any other social media site you attend.
Hope to see YOU there
It is time to give differently abled citizens of Bristol, PA and surrounding communities a chance to show their talents.
Diversity has been put on hold for now. There is still a lot of work to finish. Updates will be posted as as we get closer to starting up
Bracken has noticed that differently abled citizens of Bristol and its surrounding communities have several activities they can join like some sports, dance schools and art. The one thing they do not have is a music/performing arts program.
In the spirit of working more closely with Bristol and its surrounding communities, The Bracken Cavaliers are establishing a special musical ensemble for
the differently abled to perform in the Bristol and Philadelphia/Bucks County area.
It will be an ensemble of all ages that will be able to play and become performing artists. We know that many of those with disabilities have some very amazing talents. Unfortunately, many never get a chance to show their capabilities. Bracken wants to provide that opportunity here in Bristol.
UPDATE: Diversity has been granted their 501c3 Non Profit Status and are currently seeking a horn and a drum instructor with experience working with those who are differently abled.

The Bracken Cavaliers of Bristol, PA has a long heritage, with many proud traditions, and is part of the fabric that comprises the Bristol, PA community. It has been a part of the Bristol community for 98 years. During that time, we have provided a safe place for the youth of Bristol and its surrounding areas to have a fun time learning music and performing shows not only in Bristol but throughout the area.
We feel this is a large but worthwhile undertaking. It will literally take a village to provide the wonderful gift of music to these young kids.
If interested in becoming a member or a volunteer of this group, please email email@example.com
Also please go to the Diversity Drum Corps Go Fund Me page and make a donation.
Any and all donations will go directly towards the members and the running of the organization.
Who We Are
The Bracken Cavaliers Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps was established in 2000. We are a Non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The purposes of this organization shall be educational, historical, patriotic, and fraternal; to promote the playing of music for the enjoyment of people of all ages. Also, to promote the development of musical talent, discipline, self-esteem, and responsibility in all of our members.
A boy scout troop in Bristol
marched in parades with a drum line leading the way. In 1922 They added bugles to the drumline and it caught on with the kids from the town. In 1924, the Bracken Cavaliers was organized and claim the honor of being one of the oldest junior drum and bugle corps in the United States of America.
In 1924, under direction of the corps first director, Harry Burbank, the corps became affiliated and sponsored by the Robert W. Bracken American Legion Post No. 382 of Bristol, which, to this date is continuing to help with the sponsoring of the Cavaliers.
The name Bracken is a memorial to Robert W. Bracken, the first WWI casualty from Bristol, for whom the Legion bears the name, and of which the Bracken Cavaliers have carried in proud tradition for 98 years.
What We Do
The Bracken Cavaliers entertains audiences throughout the Philadelphia region by playing from the 50s through the 70s in parades and concerts.
Since our members are older, we no longer march, we ride on a flatbed float and play as a concert style drum and bugle corps.
